X-ray and ultrasound are imaging services. An X-ray uses a short burst of radiation to show bones and some other structures, and an ultrasound uses sound waves to build a picture of soft tissue and organs.

Patients whose clinician has asked for an X-ray or a scan to help work out what is causing a symptom.

The clinic team explains what the scan involves, carries it out, and makes sure the images and report reach the clinician who requested them.

X-rays and ultrasounds are usually quick and are not painful. Some scans need preparation, such as a full bladder or not eating beforehand, so confirm the details with the clinic when you book.
