General Consultation

A general consultation is an appointment with a clinician about a health problem, a check-up, or a question you would like to talk through.

Adults and children who are unwell, who have a symptom that is not going away, or who need a clinician to look at something and advise on what to do next.

The clinician listens to your concern, examines you where it is appropriate, and explains what they think is happening and what your options are. If a test or treatment is needed, they will tell you what it involves before you decide.

Bring any medicine you are taking and any previous test results or clinic notes you have. Appointments usually start with a conversation about your concern, followed by an examination and a discussion about next steps.
